Computer Services Specialist- IT Support Technician II

Job Description Summary

  • Coordinate, configure, install, test, and troubleshoot all personal computer hardware/software, printers and other peripheral devices connected to the Department’s network.

  • This position requires the incumbent to work as part of an established team to develop and deliver to our users a culture of service excellence and the highest quality customer service.

  • Provide customer-centric technical support to users of the KCPD/REJIS criminal justice network.

  • Technician II will possess an in-depth knowledge of all job functions of a Technician I, in addition to being able to provide a higher level of technical support and troubleshooting to computer system users.

  • Provide assistance concerning the use of computer hardware and software, including printing, installation, network connectivity, electronic mail, and operating systems.

Requirements & Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent

  • Must reside within 30 statute miles of Kansas City, Missouri city limits during employment

  • Successful completion of medical, physical fitness, psychological evaluations, and CVSA test

  • Must have the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with their team, department members, vendors, and the public.

  • Must have the ability to work independently, as well as in a team atmosphere. 

  • Comptia A+ certification is required, and Network + is preferred Comparable work experience and technical and vocational computer training will also be considered

  • 5 years' experience in performing advanced end user support as related to the duties listed in the linked document and if promoted internally, an advanced knowledge of the Kansas City Missouri Police Department devices and network

  • Must possess a valid Missouri driver’s license and a good driving record 

Physical, Cognitive, and Psychological Requirements:

  • Must meet department-established physical, cognitive, and psychological health standards
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds, bend, crawl, carry equipment, kneel, climb, work on the floor under counters and desks, multiple times a day
  • Position operates in a standard office environment 40% of the time; remaining 60% is spent in travel and at other remote sites within the Kansas City area.
