Meet Officer Amber Hoffman

Officer Hoffman grew up in Kansas City, Missouri and had many peers whose parents were police officers. She felt a unique admiration for those officers, and a connection as she grew to understand her own desire to help others. She decided at an early age to pursue a career in law enforcement. She began her career with KCPD in 2006. 

Officer Hoffman enjoys helping those with a desire to serve the Kansas City community find a fit at KCPD.

Meet Officer Damon Harrell

Officer Harrell has been with KCPD over 25 years and finds that being able to assist people who are in need brings immeasurable rewards. He's happy to be in a role in which he can offer the opportunity to others to reap those same rewards. 

When he is talking to potential candidates for positions at KCPD, he is listening to hear the sounds of a heartbeat to serve.

Meet Officer Terrence Brown

Officer Brown grew up Kansas City, Mo. He served in the US Marine Corps and has been with KCPD over 15 years. He has worked at South Patrol Division, East Patrol Division and Traffic Enforcement Unit during that time.

Officer Brown joined the recruiting team in February 2024 and is extremely excited about his new role as a Recruiter and being able to go out and talk with potential applicants about the great career opportunities within KCPD.

MEET OFFICER SUTTON SMITH

Officer Smith hails from Northwest Missouri and has called Kansas City, MO home since 2007, when she began her journey with the KCPD.

A non-traditional recruit, she entered the Police Academy at 36 after nearly 14 years of service with the State of Missouri. At that time, she was also raising her four children!

Becoming a law enforcement officer had been a lifelong aspiration for Smith. She has always looked up to her family members in law enforcement and admired the positive impact they made in their communities.

Now, Officer Smith is seeking candidates who are passionate about their community and eager to make a difference by serving with KCPD.
