Before You Begin
Not all crimes, tips, and requests are eligible to be reported online. Only those that fit under a reporting offense category, listed below, and meet all of the following criteria:
- Occurred within Kansas City, Missouri city limits
- No one was injured
- You were not the victim of a hate crime
- A firearm was not involved
- Your license plate or car was not stolen
- Follows known suspect requirements
If your report does not meet these criteria, you are unable to file a report online. You may file a report at any of our patrol division stations.
If your report does match the criteria, you may select a Report Offense below to proceed.
To submit a report in person at a station, find your nearest station and visit during open station hours.

Report Writing Tips
- Watch the timer in the lower right hand of the report screen. You will have 30 minutes to complete each screen. If you time out, you will need to start over from the beginning.
- You may upload images in the Incident section of the report.
- Write in first person, using "I" and "me" pronouns.
- Write your report at your earliest convenience when your memory of details will be best.
- Write your narrative in chronological order.
- Keep it short and simple.
UPON COMPLETION
Upon completion of this report process you will:
- see the words: "Your report has been submitted"
- be given a tracking number for your report, and
- be able to print a temporary copy of the report for your records.
Please Note:
- All cases filed using the Online Reporting System will be reviewed.
- Upon review, if further investigation of your case is needed, you may be contacted.
- Filing a false police report is a crime.
SELECT AN OFFENSE TO REPORT
A hit-and-run is a criminal offense that occurs when a driver hits a person or object with their vehicle and then leaves the scene without stopping to help or provide their information.
An accident where no one is injured, vehicles are drivable, and parties have exchanged information.
Willful disobedience of custody terms outlined in a court order.
Suspected drug activity at a specific location or involving a suspected drug dealer.
A request for additional police presence.
The taking and use of someone else's credit/debit card without their permission. If the fraud was in conjunction with an Identity Theft please report both offenses under the Identity Theft Incident type.
Due to this potentially being a cybercrime the use of the device outside of the Kansas City, Missouri area is permitted to be reported online.
Using someone else's personal identifying information without their consent to obtain credit, goods, or services.

When property is missing or lost with no indication it was stolen.
Unwanted phone calls of an annoying, harassing, or threatening nature.
Damage done to property or vehicle.
The unauthorized removal of merchandise from a store without paying for it.
Your property is taken without your permission. A vehicle or license plates cannot be reported using the online reporting system.
