Victim's Rights Information
Victims of crime are afforded certain rights as described in Missouri State Statute 595.209. These rights include (but are not limited to) the right to be informed of the available of victim compensation assistance; information regarding the status of their case; information regarding the release of a defendant on bond or for any other reason; information regarding hearings, guilty pleas, sentencing, or probation revocation. The state of Missouri administers a crime victim compensation program which can provide victims of violent crimes and/or their families with financial assistance when applicable. The program is managed by the Missouri Department of Public Safety, Crime Victim's Compensation Program (CVC) in Jefferson City, Missouri. Application forms, assistance in completing applications, information regarding this program, or general victim assistance information can be obtained by contacting the Victim Assistance Unit at (816) 234-5205.
