Publish Date 10/23/2023

On the morning of Oct. 20, recruits on the verge of graduating from the police academy honored fallen Independence Officer Blaize Madrid-Evans.
The 178th Entrant Officer Class dedicated their group run to Madrid-Evans, who was killed in the line of duty two years ago. One of the recruits was friends with Madrid-Evans when they worked together previously on an ambulance crew.
Madrid-Evans’ mother, Shannon, spoke with the recruits afterwards. She said she's very proud Blaize helped so many people through organ donation.
This class of future officers will graduate on Nov. 2.
