Like they did last month in south Kansas City, Interim Police Chief David Zimmerman, commanders, officers, Mayor Sly James, and other elected officials will be walking the footbeat in east Kansas City to talk crime prevention and engage residents the evening of Wednesday, July 26.
The group will first meet with residents for a question-and-answer session at 6 p.m. at the Police Athletic League Center, 1801 White Ave. Children also are welcome, and there will be activities for them. After a community discussion about crime and prevention, the group of police and elected leaders will then walk door-to-door in the neighborhoods surrounding the PAL Center to engage residents.
This is the second of three community engagement and crime prevention neighborhood events the department is doing this summer. The final one will be in Kansas City, North. That date will be announced soon.
