Kansas City Police Chief David Zimmerman, commanders, officers, Mayor Sly James, City Manager Troy Schulte and others will be walking the footbeat in south Kansas City to talk crime prevention and engage residents the evening of Wednesday, June 28.
The group will go door-to-door in the area of 102nd and Virginia starting about 7 p.m. to talk with residents about neighborhood and block watch information as well as crime prevention tips. Before that, at 6 p.m., the community is invited to join the group of police and city leaders at the adjacent Evangel Church, 1414 E. 103rd St. There will be many police displays at the church for children and adults to check out, as well as several officers to offer more in-depth crime prevention information. The event is cosponsored by Evangel Church and the South Kansas City Alliance.
This is the first of three community engagement and crime prevention neighborhood events planned. Upcoming ones will be in the midtown/east Kansas City area and in Kansas City, North. Those dates will be announced soon.
