K-9s Receive New Ballistic Vests

Â
All 12 KCPD K-9s have received new ballistic vests thanks to a donation by way of the Police Foundation of Kansas City.
The new vests are made of Kevlar, the same material used by officers. They also weight 2.5 to 5 pounds, depending on the dog. The old vests, which were nearly 20 years old, were much heavier and bulkier.
A donor who attended the Foundation’s Call For Backup event earlier this year provided the funding for the vests.
