KCPD and Connecting for Good offer free tax preparation
The Kansas City Missouri Police Department and Connecting for Good are offering three free tax preparation events in March. No appointments are needed, and the events are first come, first served. It is open to taxpayers with an adjusted gross income of $54,000 or less. Taxes will not be prepared on site. Participants will drop off their tax preparation documents and pick up their completed returns the following week. Volunteers only will prepare taxes for 2018 and not prior years.

Be sure to bring the following items:
- Photo ID, Social Security cards for you, your spouse, and each of your dependent children
- Form W-2 for every job you or your spouse worked in 2018, 1099’s for security disability and social security supplement income.
- If you purchased health insurance through the Marketplace, bring your form 1095-A
- If you have a Marketplace granted health coverage exemption, bring your exemption certificate number
- A personal check if you want your refund directly deposited (for checking account & routing number)
- Your 2017 tax return (optional)
In 2018, did you…
- Receive unemployment compensation? Bring your Form 1099G
- Pay for child care? Bring the total you paid for child care expenses and the name, address, and Tax ID/Social Security Number of the child care provider
- Pay student loan interest? Bring the total of the student loan interest you paid
- Pay for tuition? Bring Form 1098 for you, your spouse, and/or dependent children
- Receive retirement income? Bring your 1099R
