KCPD Announces Multi-Agency Traffic Safety Operation

The Kansas City, Missouri Police Department held a news conference on April 15 to announced that it will perform a large-scale Traffic Safety Operation this weekend with the assistance of partnering agencies.
To combat the high number of fatality crashes in 2022 (31 so far compared to 17 a year ago), KCPD’s Traffic Division has analyzed the last three years of deadly crashes. Additionally, data analysts have examined high fatality locations over the last 10 years.
Starting at 4 p.m. on Saturday, April 16, various KCPD units will patrol specifically looking for speeders and impaired drivers. The traffic safety operation will last until 4 a.m. on Sunday, April 17. Enforcement locations will focus on areas with a high number of fatal crashes spanning the last 10 years.
KCPD’s DUI Unit and members from Enforcement and Investigations will participate. The Missouri State Highway Patrol and the Jackson County Sheriff’s Office will also assist.
