With extra officers added to the already in-play Entertainment District Plan, KCPD arrested 12 suspects the weekend of May 9 for breaking the law on city streets and roadways. That included sideshow-related activities, and the illegal use of ATVs and dirtbikes. In one case, officers had a weapon pointed at them, which ended in several arrests.
Officers issued19 citations over the weekend and towed six vehicles. They also seized five firearms.
KCPD began implementing additional assets around Kansas City entertainment districts in November. Patrol officers, tactical response officers, and detectives worked hand in hand to address property crime issues in those respective areas.
There has been an expedited focus on illegal street racing and sideshow activities as the weather has warmed. The police department began a more robust entertainment district response in May but it was essentially a continuation of what began in November.
