The horses and officers of the Kansas City Missouri Police Mounted Patrol will be strutting their stuff on Saturday at a free Family Open House at the Mounted Patrol barn.
The Open House, hosted by the non-profit Friends of the Kansas City, Missouri, Mounted Patrol, will be from noon to 3 p.m. Oct. 13 at 7331 Oakwood, which is located in Camp Lake of the Woods in Swope Park. Attendees will get the chance to get up close and personal with KCPD’s horses, enjoy some free hot dogs and chips, purchase Mounted Patrol merchandise, check out police tactical equipment and see demonstrations by the Mounted Patrol and Canine Units. The demonstrations begin at 1 p.m., and media are invited to attend. This is the sixth year for the event.
“This is a chance for people to become familiar with the KCPD Special Operations Division – mainly the Mounted Patrol – and how they work” said AliceLee Hollister, chair of the Friends of the KC Mounted Patrol.
The Friends of the Kansas City, Missouri, Mounted Patrol is a 501c3 non-profit organization whose mission is to promote and fund-raise for the needs of the KCPD Mounted Patrol beyond the established police department budget. Donations will be accepted at the event.
