Statement on groups at Aug. 20 demonstration

The Kansas City Missouri Police Department did not invite any groups or individuals to a rally at the J.C. Nichols Fountain on Aug. 20, nor will KCPD invite anyone to any demonstrations, rallies or protests in the future. KCPD supports everyone’s First Amendment rights to assembly and free speech, and officers’ presence at these events is solely to ensure peace and safety.
