UPDATE: Missing children Avontay Reed and Kelvontae Cooper located safe

UPDATE, Nov. 27: The children have been located and are SAFE with police. We’re working with the Division of Family Services to find the safest placement for them moving forward.

ORIGINAL, Nov. 24: 

We are currently investigating the case with missing children, Avontay Reed (b/m 11/16/2013) and Kelvontae Cooper (b/m 11/27/2015). We became aware yesterday the children were not with their mother or their aunt, their current caretaker. We are talking with family, friends and the Children’s Division, who has custody of the children due to the their mother’s mental health. The family does not believe the children are in peril. We have learned there are historical facts indicating the mother has taken the children on several occasions and voluntarily given them to other caretakers. We have no indication the children were abducted, therefore an Amber Alert is not applicable at this time. We are still committed to finding the children. 

Avontay Reed, b/m, 11/16/2013, 100 lbs and 4’7”, was last seen wearing a black coat, gray shirt, blue jeans, and black shoes. Kelvontae Cooper, b/m, 11/27/2015, 90 lbs  and 4’4”, was last seen wearing a black coat, white shirt with red and black writing, blue jeans, and brown shoes.
