December 1, 2023 Closed Session Votes

Below are the votes from the closed session meeting of the BOPC on December 1, 2023:

 

Mayor Lucas was absent.  Commissioners Dean and Cramer participated by phone; Commissioner Whittaker attended by Webex.

 

Following a motion by Commissioner Whittaker, and a second by Commissioner Cramer, at 8:11 a.m., the Board voted to go into closed session to discuss personnel matters.  The vote was 3-0 in favor.  Following polling, Commissioner Dean voted Aye, Commissioner Cramer voted Aye, and Commissioner Whittaker voted Aye. 

 

Following a motion by Commissioner Whittaker, and a second by Commissioner Cramer, the Board voted, in light of the Missouri Court of Appeals recent decision in Willford Freestone v. The Board of Police Commissioners Kansas City, Missouri, to reconsider its prior ruling on November 14, 2023, and grant the duty-related disability retirement application of ___________.[1]  The vote was 3-0 in favor.  Following polling, Commissioner Dean voted Aye, Commissioner Cramer voted Aye, and Commissioner Whittaker voted Aye.

 

Following a motion by Commissioner Whittaker, and a second by Commissioner Cramer, the Board voted to come out of closed session and adjourn at 8:33 a.m.  The vote was 3-0 in favor.  Following polling, Commissioner Dean voted Aye, Commissioner Cramer voted Aye, and Commissioner Whittaker voted Aye.
