Unsolved Homicides
We appreciate witnesses coming forward and providing statements. The Kansas City Missouri Police Department will continue to investigate these and other homicides until the suspects are identified, caught, and the cases are brought to the appropriate prosecutor’s offices. Dejuan O. Gordon B/M 11/17/1982
Occurred: 03/30/2012 near 2012 Montgall Ave.
Officers responded to a reported shooting call. Upon arrival, they located the victim lying on the
sidewalk deceased from apparent gunshot wounds.

Damon Price B/M 1-1-91
Occurred: 3/28/2012, 8:30 p.m., 5515 Euclid
Officers were directed to the address in regard to the sound of gunshots. Upon
arrival they discovered Price lying in the front yard, deceased from apparent
gunshot wounds.

Rio B. Jauregui-Ellis W/M 4-8-93
Occurred: 3/19/2012, 4 p.m., Budd Park Esplanade and Denver Avenue
The victim arrived in the red vehicle, pictured above. He got into some type of
argument with two occupants of a black sport utility vehicle. One of the suspects
shot the victim, who ran into the park and collapsed. The black vehicle left the
scene southbound on Denver Avenue.

Wayne Steward B/M 02/10/1981
Occurred: 03/17/12, 1809 Grand
The victim was at the club Balanca when a fight broke out outside. Patrons from inside the club ran
outside, at which time several people began shooting. The victim was struck by a bullet. Two other
victims were shot and transported to area hospitals.

Robert J. Burnett B/M 28YO
On 02/14/2012 at 2222 hours, KCMO PD Officers responded to the Blue Valley
Market at 4300 Cleveland Ave in regard to the sound of gunfire. Upon arrival,
Officers discovered the victim deceased from apparent gunshot wounds at the
south end of the parking lot. The persons pictured inside the store are subjects of
interest.

Vernon Carney B/M 01/31/1974
On 02/04/2012 at 0104 hours, Officers of the Kansas City Missouri Police
Department were dispatched to 57th and Troost on a reported shooting. Upon
arrival, officers discovered the victim deceased inside a silver Cadillac Escalade
from apparent gunshot wounds.

Leland Dickens B/M 06/21/78
Occurred: 01/17/12, 4533 Askew
The victim walked outside his residence to warm up his vehicle when unknown suspects
began shooting at him. The victim was able to run toward the back of the residence
where the suspect’s followed continuing to shoot.

On 03/31/2009 at 1250 hours officers were dispatched to 6407 Manchester Ave in regard to a suspicious vehicle and a party armed. Upon arrival, officers discovered the victim in the stairwell on the west side of the building. The victim, Ahmed Johnson, had been shot. He died at the scene.

On January 6, 2008, Kansas City Missouri Police Officers were sent to 2716 Grove regarding a disturbance.
Upon arrival officers found that Eric L. Davis, 35, and Rosalind D. Dawson, 45, had been shot. Rosalind was declared dead at the scene. Eric was transported to an area hospital with serious injuries. Eric was eventually transferred to an extended care facility. Eric never recovered from his injuries, and he eventually died on April 6, 2009, from complications related to the shooting. The Jackson County Medical Examiner ruled Eric’s death a homicide on January 14, 2010.

The victim, age 21, and his friend were on foot at 39th and Broadway near the Westport entertainment district when they were caught in the crossfire of rival gang members shooting at each other from various vehicles at about 3:20 a.m. May 20, 2007. The victim sustained a gunshot wound during the shooting and subsequently died from his injury. The victim was an innocent bystander who lost his life to gang violence.
There is a $30,000 reward for information leading to an arrest in this case.
