On April 21, the Kansas City Missouri Police Department (KCPD), along with KC 2026 and law enforcement partners, conducted a security exercise at the World War I Museum and Memorial, site of this summer’s FIFA Fan Festival. The exercise was standard practice for an event of this magnitude, testing coordination, communication, and response.

For more than a year and a half, KCPD has been preparing full-time for the World Cup. The department has studied best safety and security practices from global sporting events, connected with partners in and out of law enforcement, and continued to add officers.

With safety as the priority, KCPD is where we should be at this stage. It is staffed, excited, and prepared.
