Unsolved Homicides
We appreciate witnesses coming forward and providing statements. The Kansas City Missouri Police Department will continue to investigate these and other homicides until the suspects are identified, caught, and the cases are brought to the appropriate prosecutor’s offices. On 08-04-2017, officers responded to the area of 51st and College Ave on reported dead body.
It was determined the deceased person had been at the location for a period of time. Family
members of a missing person were at the scene and gave us the name of Carrie Blewett. We
were able to identify the deceased person as Carrie Blewett who had been missing since July
2017. The victim was last seen with someone in the area of 51st and College on the morning of
July 15th, 2017. Anyone with information regarding this homicide, please contact Det. Heather

On 07-21-2017 at approximately 2001 Hours, Officers of the Kansas City Missouri Police Department
were dispatched to 3828 E. 6th Street Kansas City, Jackson County, Missouri 64124 on a deceased 23 year-old male
discovered at that location.
This is being investigated as a homicide.

On 7/20/17 at approximately 1735 hours, members of the Kansas City Missouri Police Department were
dispatched to 28th and Walrond in regard to a shooting. Upon arrival a b/m was observed inside a vehicle
parked on the southwest corner of 28th and Walrond . The male had apparent life threatening gunshot
wounds. EMS transported the victim to an area hospital but was pronounced deceased at 1821 hours.

On 7-10-2017 at approximately 0055 hours Officers responded to 4351 Blue
parkway in regard to a shooting. A vehicle traveling eastbound wrecked into the
steps in front of the Burger King. Upon arrival the officers observed the victim,
Thomas Jones, to have been shot. Bullet holes were located on the passenger
side of the vehicle.

On 07-08-2017 at 0127 hours Officers of the Kansas City Missouri Police
Department were dispatched to 9916 Holmes (Soul Lounge) in regard to a
disturbance.
The victim later arrived at a local hospital where he died from a gunshot wound
he sustained during the disturbance in the parking lot of 9916 Holmes.

Discovered: 06-19-2017, 0157 hours at 3819 E. 71st
On June 19, 2017 Turreze Harris was found shot in the street in front of the
address. He was transported to an area hospital where he succumbed to his
injuries.

UPDATE: SOLVED, FEBRUARY 2021
On 5/12/2017 at 1612 hours Patrol Officers responded to 54th and Park in regard to a shooting. Information was received from an off duty officer three victims had responded to Research Medical Center with gunshot wounds. The juvenile victim, Marcus Haislip, and other occupants of the car were shot as they drove through the area. Marcus Haislip III died from his injuries. The driver and passenger of the vehicle were also injured and were treated and released. Det. Brent Taney is the case detective and he can be reached at 816-‐889-‐1655.
On 06-09-2017, officers responded to 115 NW Harlem Rd #273 where they found victim
deceased from a gunshot wound to the head. The witness, mother of the victim, stated
someone entered her apartment, attempted to rob her when her daughter, who was sleeping
on the floor, stood up and was shot by a black male suspect. The suspect ran from the
apartment, entered a vehicle and left the parking lot. Anyone with information in regard to this

Victim: Destiny Weaver, B/F, 05/08/1992
Discovered: 06-02-2017, 0746 hours at 75th and Holmes, Tower Park
On June 2, 2017 Destiny Weaver was found deceased inside her vehicle in the

On 05-27-2017 at approximately 1458 Hours, Officers of the Kansas City, Missouri Police Department were dispatched to 2118 Kansas Ave on a reported shooting.
Upon arrival officers discovered two male victims suffering from gunshot trauma. Both victims were transported to an area hospital. One victim was declared deceased on 06-01-2017; the other was treated and released.
This is being investigated as a homicide.
