Unsolved Homicides

We appreciate witnesses coming forward and providing statements. The Kansas City Missouri Police Department will continue to investigate these and other homicides until the suspects are identified, caught, and the cases are brought to the appropriate prosecutor’s offices. Brandon Herring B/M 4-17-95

On 1/21/2017 at approximately 1053 hours patrol officers were dispatched to Swope Park (67th and Bennington) in regard to a dead body. Officers located the body in a creek bed. The victim, Brandon Herring, was located by citizens conducting a search for another missing party. The victim appeared to have been at this location for an undetermined period of time Det. On 1/12/2017 at 2133 hours officers were dispatched to 8607 E. 62nd Street Ter., on sounds of shots. The call was upgraded to a shooting. Officers arrived on scene at about 2140 hours on a reported shooting. Upon arrival, officers entered the apartment and found two deceased victims, Victoria C. Brown and Darrell E. Thomas. Ali R. Brown was transported to a hospital and later died from her injuries. An adult female and juvenile male were found alive but suffering from gunshot wounds. On 1/10/2017 at 2046 hours Officers were dispatched to 12 and Paseo on a reported shooting. Upon arrival they observed a black vehicle with the passenger side-door open, engine running and facing northbound. The victim, Donald Coty Jr., was located in the driver's seat and appeared to have been shot. He died at the scene. A second occupant of the vehicle was believed to have also been shot and fled the scene on foot. Det. Scott Mullen is the case detective and he can be reached at 816-234-5336.

On 01/28/2017 at approximately 1116 Hours, officers of the Kansas City Missouri Police Department were dispatched to the area of 53rd and Brighton Ave., Kansas City, Mo., on a reported dead body. Upon arrival officers were directed to a wooded area south of 52nd and Brighton Ave., on the west side of the roadway where they observed an unknown black male victim who had no signs of life. This is being investigated as a homicide. Anyone with any information about this homicide is urged to call the TIPS Hotline at 816-­‐474-­‐TIPS, or Det. J. Timothy Woods

Timothy Woods B/M 04/04/1964

Discovered: 12/31/2016, College and Gregory

On December 31, Timothy Woods was sitting inside a vehicle in the area of
College and Gregory when a shot was fired into the back of the vehicle. Woods
was struck by the bullet and died a few days later from the injury.

Jesus Reyes H/M 10/15/1946

On November 5, Officers were dispatched to the listed address on a shooting.
Upon arrival they found the victim deceased inside the residence. Witnesses
stated they heard shots and observed an unknown subject run out the back of the
residence.

Anthony Bell B/M 09/10/1967

On 10/27/2016 at 1851 hours, Officers were dispatched to 1632 Elmwood Ave. on a reported
shooting. Upon arrival Officers located Anthony Bell lying in the front yard with an apparent
gunshot wound. Bell was transported to a local hospital in life threating condition where he
later died as a result of his injuries. Witnesses provided information that there were two black
male suspects that fled the scene.

Bladimir Berzunza-Perez H/M 7/11/1996

Discovered: 9/18/2016, 22nd and Chelsea
On September 18, officers were dispatched to the address on a person lying
beside the road. Upon arrival they found the victim to be deceased. Evidence at
the scene lead detectives to believe the victim was killed at a different location
and then dumped at the discovery site.

Desmond Jenkins B/M 12/12/87

On 09-04-2016 at 2112 hours officers of the Kansas City, Jackson County, Missouri Police
Department, were dispatched to 4114 Bellefontaine on a reported call for service - Sounds of
Shots.
Upon their arrival they located the victim with no apparent signs of life, near the front steps of
4116 Bellefontaine. Officers observed several shell casings on the front porch of 4116
Bellefontaine. The victims death was ruled a homicide as a result from multiple gunshots
wounds.

Rodney D.K. Peoples B/M 4/2/1991

Occurred: 6/11/2016 at 1838 hours at 3300 Indiana

Patrol officers were alert to a shooting at 33rd and Indiana. Upon responding the
officers located the victim on the sidewalk. Medical personnel responded and
pronounced the subject deceased.
Witnesses described a white Pontiac leaving the scene southbound on Indiana
after the shooting.

The Kansas City Missouri Police Department’s Homicide Unit is asking anyone with
